During Hiring Process, Partner Asks How His Firm Can Identify New Mom’s Commitment

February 19, 2010

The February 16, 2010 ABA Weekly News Journal reported on a story out of the  U.K. alleging that a partner at a firm there asked, among other things, if there were any guidelines on how to ask interview questions to identify a particular candidate’s “commitment, hours she is prepared to do, how she will balance work and a child?”   The candidate happened to be a new mom.   The story in itself is troubling, but I suggest you read the comments to the article as well.
