Recent Study Shows Female Partners Not Getting Fair Origination Credit

May 3, 2010

During a Summit for in-house counsel held at Temple University on April 28, 2010, Veta Richardson, Executive Director of the Minority Corporate Counsel Association and Cynthia Calvert, co-director of the Project for Attorney Retention at the University of California Hastings College of Law, unveiled their report entitled “A Survey of Women Partners on Law Firm Compensation.” The report’s findings are troublesome, finding, among other things, that 55% of respondents reported being frequently or sometimes denied fair origination credit, and that nearly a third felt threatened when seeking fair credit.
